Important account notice
Each email address may create one account and register one paper. To register another paper, create a new account with a different email address.
In-person attendance
ICHEC 2026 is fully in person. At least one author must present each accepted paper on site. If force majeure prevents travel, notify the organizers promptly and prepare a prerecorded presentation if requested.
Cancellation
Paper-related registrations are non-refundable. Non-author registrations cancelled by Oct. 30, 2026 (AoE) receive a 70% refund; no refund is available afterwards. Send a formal institutional request to ichec2026.info@gmail.com.

Lotus Square
Standing in Lotus Square next to the Forum, the large sculpture of "Lotus Flower In Full Bloom" presented by the State Council of China in 1999, marks the return of sovereignty of Macao.
Handover Gifts Museum of Macao
The Handover Gifts Museum of Macao is built on the site of the Macao Handover Ceremony of the Sino-Portuguese Governments. Now, it is the location for the exhibition of the handover gifts.
Ruins of St. Paul's
The Ruins of St. Paul's refer to the facade of what was originally the Church of Mater Dei built in 1602-1640, destroyed by fire in 1835, and the ruins of St. Paul's College, which stood adjacent to the Church. As a whole, the old Church of Mater Dei, St. Paul's College and Mount Fortress were all Jesuit constructions and formed what can be perceived as the Macao's "acropolis". Close by, the archaeological remains of the old College of St. Paul stand witness to what was the first western-style university in the Far East, with an elaborate academic program. Nowadays, the facade of the Ruins of St. Paul's functions symbolically as an altar to the city.

Ruins of St. Paul’s

The Ruins of St. Paul’s, ranked first among the “Eight Scenic Spots of Macau,” is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally the facade of St. Paul’s Church and part of the adjacent St. Paul’s College—the first Western-style university in the Far East—it served as a major center for missionary training from 1594 to 1762. Built with granite, the 25.5-meter-high facade features intricate carvings blending European Baroque and Eastern elements, earning it the nickname “The Bible in Stone.” After a fire in 1835 destroyed the church, only the facade remained, resembling a traditional Chinese paifang (archway), hence the name “Ruins of St. Paul’s.
Mount Fortress (Fortaleza do Monte)

Also known as St. Paul’s Fortress, this is one of the oldest Western-style fortresses in China and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed between 1617 and 1626, it sits atop Mount Hill at 52 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the Macau Peninsula. Built with granite and rammed earth mixed with oyster shell mortar, the fortress features bastions at each corner for improved defense. It once housed barracks, a cistern, and an armory, serving as the core of Macau’s defense system.
Macao Museum
Admission: MOP 15 (students MOP 8); Free on Tuesdays and the 15th of each month

Located atop Mount Fortress, the Macao Museum covers 2,800 sqm and houses over 3,000 artifacts. The museum has three levels:
Senado Square (Largo do Senado)

Located in central Macau, Senado Square—nicknamed "Fountain Square" by locals—has long been a political and commercial hub. The square is paved with wave-patterned black-and-white stones and surrounded by pastel-colored colonial buildings, reflecting strong Southern European charm.
St. Dominic’s Church

Opening Hours: 10:00–18:00 (Closed after 15:00 on Thursdays and Saturdays)
A short walk from Senado Square, this Baroque-style church was founded in 1587 by the Dominicans. It is one of the oldest Catholic churches in the Far East. The interior features a golden altar and stained glass windows. Adjacent is the “Treasury of Sacred Art,” showcasing over 300 Catholic relics.
Macau Tower

Standing 338 meters tall, Macau Tower is a landmark offering 360° panoramic views from its main observation deck at 223 meters.
